A New Library in Truckee
Truckee is a Town that values the environment, education, and a strong community. Today, people actively seek out Truckee for many reasons: to live, work, recreate outdoors, retire and raise families. Over the years, Truckee has earned a reputation as a close-knit community that supports the environment, education and libraries. We have a clear sense of place. Visitors, residents and second-home owners flock to Truckee for the natural beauty and small town feel. In short, we all love Truckee. Yet our community is lacking an adequate center-----a place to gather, learn and connect with each other. An expanded library space in Truckee would fulfill that need.
The Many Faces of Our Community
An expanded library in Truckee will foster dialogue, learning and exchange within our community. The new library will include free expanded computer resources and programs for strengthening language and communication skills. A special component of the new library will be an expanded collection of Spanish-language books and literacy programs to serve the growing Latino population in Truckee.
A Place for Children and Young Adults
The expanded Truckee library will provide a window on the world for children and young adults. The new library will give our children a place to develop a love of reading, a quest for knowledge and a thirst for lifelong learning.
