Donate to the Library

One Time Gifts - To give a one-time gift in any amount, please donate using the PayPal link below:

Gift Memberships and Memorial Donations - If you contribute to The Friends in honor of someone, we'll send them a card letting them know (gift memberships will entitle the recipient to membership benefits too!). Gift memberships make great birthday presents or end-of-the-year gifts for teachers. If you'd like to give a memorial donation, please let us know how you'd like the gift recognized (one option is a memorial placard inside the cover of books that your gift allows us to purchase).

Wish List -

1. Storage space for used book donations (an unused room or clean garage space).
2. Library Historian - A volunteer to save media articles from the local press about library issues.

3. Magazine Subscriptions - The Library can't afford to subscribe to every periodical that patrons request, but you can help this happen by donating a subscription. Ask the Library staff for the titles on their periodicals wish list.

4. Book Sale Coordinator - A volunteer to coordinate used book sales.

Membership

If you're not already a member, we think it's something you should look into! Not only do membership dues provide the majority of funding for The Friends, but being a member also allows you to stay in the loop by receiving our semi-annual newsletter. Memberships are available at many different levels and are renewable every year in July, which allows you to give only what you can afford once a year.

Donate Your Used Books

The Library is accepting donations of up to 10 used books at a time for the Friends ongoing book sale. Please make sure the books are clean and in good shape (no water stains or tears, bindings intact, etc.) Donated books will be sold in the foyer at the Library to raise money for the Friends of the Truckee Library.

To date, several Truckee parents have chosen to ask their child's birthday party guests to donate a book to the Library in lieu of giving their child a birthday present. If you are interested in this generous way to add to the Library's collection, please contact the Children's Librarian, Teri Rinne, to come up with a list of books on her wish list.

New Library Campaign

This is a special fund at the Truckee Tahoe Community Foundation specifically for a new library in Truckee. You may contribute directly to the Foundation.

Become an Adult Literacy Tutor: It's wonderful to be able to read, right? Show your appreciation by sharing that satisfaction with someone who's never known it. Demand for tutors in Read Up!, the literacy program, far outstrips supply. Call Rolann Aronson at 575-7030 to get involved.

Friends Board Meetings: Will stay on schedule, third Monday of the month at noon at the Village Pizzeria at the CVS/Save Mart Shopping Center. The FOL Board will meet the FOURTH Monday in February because of the President's Weekend holiday.

Help resurrect the Annual Used Booksale: Can't live without the summer event? Help us find a storage space to house donated books, volunteer to help organize and transport books, or sign on to help man our booth this summer at Truckee Thursdays in downtown Truckee.

Spearhead a Cultural Event or Truckee Reads Program: Got a great idea for a book for the next Truckee Reads? Dreaming of an event with a local author or illustrator? We want your ideas and energy for cultural events for the community.
